Anyone struggling to lose weight, be healthy, or want to watch an inspiring documentary, turn on your Netflix and watch Fat Sick & Nearly Dead. A man goes on a 60 day juice "fast" which is all fresh fruits and veggies and exercises, and loses a ton of weight and is able to get off all of the medication he has needed to take. He gets blood tests taken regularly to make sure nothing in his body is reacting negatively and it doesn't - in fact it is working better than it ever has! He shares his journey and inspires someone else and the results are nothing short of fantastic. They are also supervised by doctors and are not starving their body of anything and the doctors recommend it. I'll be starting my 60 days on the juice when I get back from California, and I am so excited!

I am on board with all things crafty lately. I have begun an "Irish Green" rag quilt as a gift to my grandma. It was supposed to be a Christmas gift , but it has kind of turned into a Christmas/New Years/winter/spring gift. I am really hoping to make some progress on it this week after work and hopefully finish this weekend.
I am now completely obsessed (I don't use that word lightly) with building a few pieces of furniture for my home. Big undertaking I know, but I was so impressed by my wonderful friend Sarah's daybed and kitchen island, I think I might be able to pull some of this stuff off. By the way, please check out Sarah's projects so far because quite simply they are amazing. I don't expect to come close to the quality of her craftwomanship but if I can get even half the quality level, I will be doing ok! :-)
Reading Sarah's blog has helped me discover Ana White's website, where she posts plans for an unimaginable amount of furniture as well as people submit their revisions. You could spend hours on there gathering inspiration. I know because I did it! Somehow I ended up on Ana White's facebook page where tons of people were posting their projects.... and I just spent 2 hours looking at all of the stuff, which is amazing!
This morning I complied a list of what I want to build, with a tentative list of things I want to build once we actually own a house, and I can make more permanent changes.

Ricky & Judd in front of two Battlestar Galactica posters. |
Yesterday was a fun-filled gray Seattle day. Our friends Judd and Mandy had planned going to a Battlestar Gallactica exhibit that was at the Sy-Fyi/EMP musuem. I have never watched Battlestar Gallactica, nor do I know much about it at all, and I am pretty sure Judd's lady Mandy was on the same boat I was. The exhibit had a few cool things to look at, full size fighter ships from the show and costumes, but it was pretty small for all of the hype it was causing. We also spent a ton of time in the gift shops for the boys to look around, but no one bought anything. It was a total geek fest inside this exhibit and I didn't know what I was reading or looking at half the time, but I was a good sport I think and just slowly wandered around being "interested". :-) We spent about an hour inside the the rest of EMP, and I made everyone join me in the On Stage simulator, which is always a good time. I will not share our on stage photo, just because I don't think any of the other involved parties would appreciate it.

Some of you may not know, but when we moved to Bremerton when I was 11 my parents bought season tickets for the Seahawks. My mom is/was a HUGE fan, so they bought 3 tickets, one for each of them and then one for one of us kids and we would rotate through. I vividly remember finding out which games were available as soon as the schedule was released and we would all draw numbers out of a hat to round robin pick each game. I scored the Seahawks vs. Raiders game almost every time, but that wasn't for lack of trading (or tricking some might say) with my sister and brother for other games. I LOVED the hype of the these games. When the hard copy tickets showed up in the mail later on, they were like paper gold. Unfortunately, those season tickets were dropped several years later right before the move into Qwest Field.
After Sunday's big W against the I was (along with every other die hard win or lose Seahawks fan) thrilled that the Seahawks would be in the playoffs. They haven't got in since the 2005 -2006 season where they got to the Superbowl (for the first time EVER) and got robbed by the referees.... but I am going to drop that because I get angry every time I talk about. ESPECIALLY after one of the referees admitted he blew several calls in the came several years later. But I said I wasn't gonna get into it. Here's the thing. Everyone is up in arms because the Seahawks are going into the playoffs with a losing record (7-9). Guess what? If the Rams would have won the game Sunday, they would have been going into the playoffs with a record not much better (8-8 if they would have won). So my point is stop griping to anyone and everyone who will listen that the Seahawks don't deserve to be in the playoffs. The way I see it, they won their division and deserve to be there, and I personally and THRILLED about it.
Come Saturday at 1:30 PM my mom and I will proudly be in our seats right next to the tunnel, probably with our faces and hair painted blue and green, ready to cheer on the hawks to a victory!

Bruce Wayne has never seen snow. Being born only this past February, he has never seen the beautiful white stuff that falls from the sky and transforms the neighborhood into something completely different and a little magical (at least that's what I think when it snows ha ha). Right now, it is snowing at my house. It is not a heavy downpour, but a thick flurry if you want to call it that. It's not sticking either, but I have to drive to work tomorrow so that is cool with me.
* A slight disclaimer - I am aware Bruce is a dog and not my child. However, because I do not have a child, he is my furbaby...don't judge. :-) *
He wanted to go outside, so out we went!
At first, he didn't realize anything at all. Then, he started running around like a mad man trying to figure out what the white stuff was.
After a few minutes I got cold so we went inside. I was sitting on the couch wishing I had a fireplace when I stumbled across something in the Holiday ON Demand channel through Comcast. It is called Yule Log 2010. It plays instrumental Christmas music while showing a crackling fireplace.
I did some more browsing and found a winter/forest snow shot
And another fireplace, but this one does not play music. Just really loud crackling, which upset Bruce to no end for the 30 seconds it was on the TV.
So back to the Christmas music and Yule Log 2010 HD we went, and where we have stayed for the past 30 minutes.
Just a little note to John - I may be listening to Christmas music early, however as you will notice from the little pumpkins on the shelf and TV stand I am still in the "harvest" decorating theme....for now. bwahahaha.
